This tourist trail extends in the heart of the Popes enclave, a small territory part of the Vaucluse in the Drome département.
The Sepia Trail takes in a French administrative curiosity: an area of four communes, in an enclave in the Drôme département, but which belongs to the département of Vaucluse! The rows of vines lined with rose bushes, lavender and broom lend this landscape an inimitable charm. The Côtes du Rhône wines abound here, starting with Visan and Valréas in the Côtes du Rhône Villages AOC.
The Enclave des Papes, purchased from the Region of Dauphiné by the sovereign pontiffs and then extended by annexing the commandery of the Knights Templar in Richerenches, offers a rich and varied heritage to visit and discover, ranging from the Château of Simiane to the Cardboard Museum in Valréas, with a passing nod to the Templars’ walled town of Richerenches.
Restaurants, hotels, wineries: all the places to visit in the Rhone area are listed here!
