The 2014 harvest in brief

Auspicious late-summer weather, guided by the Mistral winds that define the region’s climate, helped get Rhône Valley off to a timely start this harvest, with fruit that showed plenty of promise both in quantity and quality.

Southern reds began harvest Sept. 10 and northern areas began on the 20ieth, with this year’s grapes showing early, rapid and uniform veraison, thanks to adequate water, the optimal combination of cooling nights and warm days for slow ripening and good phenolic maturity. Alcoholic levels look to be within the usual limits.
